Feel free to use this Note Box to take your own message notes:

Author: The apostle John, the son of Zebedee
Date: A.D. 80-90
Purpose:
- To demonstrate that Jesus is the Messiah, the son of God.
- To show that the Christian faith is universal, applying to
Jews and non-Jews alike, and that Jesus is the only way God.
- To equip believers for mission.

1. The

of Jesus.

John 1:1-5
In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

Colossian 1:15-20
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unsee world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

John 14:6
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

There are no other means by which our sins are forgiven and that we are reconciled to the Father but through Jesus.

2. The

of Jesus.

John 1:14
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

Hebrew 4:14-16
So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

John 1:14
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.
