Introduction:
Every follower of Jesus Christ is commanded to be On Mission with Him. Sadly, many Christians in America are in a spiritual sleep, living their lives with little to no Kingdom impact. God wants us to wake up from our sleep and be On Mission with Him.
Living a life On Mission is a call to action! During the month of August, we will have the opportunity to hear about what God is doing all around the globe so that we can pray for and engage in what He is doing both locally and globally through City United Church.
“Besides this, since you know the time, it is already the hour for you to wake up from sleep, because now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.” —Romans 13:11
During this collection, we will focus on the following areas:

Today’s Takeaway: We must be the impact to see the impact.
Week 1 - Now Is the Time
I. STAY
“So then, let us not sleep, like the rest, but let us stay awake and be self-controlled. 7For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled and put on the armor of faith and love, and a helmet of the hope of salvation. 9For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing.” —1 Thessalonians 5:6-11
“But when these things begin to take place, stand up and lift your heads, because your redemption is near.” —Luke 21:28
II. STAY
“Jesus came near and said to them, ‘All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” —Matthew 28:18-20
“After they brought them in, they had them stand before the Sanhedrin, and the high priest asked, 28“Didn’t we strictly order you not to teach in this name? Look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.” 29Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than people.” —Acts 5:27-29
“So the word of God spread, the disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly in number, and a large group of priests became obedient to the faith.” —Acts 6:7
III. STAY
A. Because Jesus is coming
“He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” 9After he had said this, he was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud received him out of their sight.” —Acts 1:7-9
