Colossians 3:12-21 says:
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me.
Close to the end of the story, Esau wants to kill Jacob, Jacob is running for his life, Isaac is dying and Rebekah is heartbroken because of their broken family.

A very sad truth is that sometimes within our home life, there are many sour notes that come out! The home of Isaac, which at one time sounded like the symphony at Carnegie Hall, now sounds like the Mayberry Band on their way to Raleigh by the end of it all.
HARMONY HAS A
- NO consecutive 5ths or consecutive octaves
- NO dissonant leaps (seventh, augmented or diminished intervals), choose small intervals.
- Leading note resolves to the tone.
- The soprano line should have an interesting melody.
- The alto and tenor lines should not move about much at all.
- Never leave out a figured note. Never leave out the root or third.
- Never overlap parts.
- Stay in the accepted voice ranges and don’t put more than an octave between the upper voices.
“One hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other. They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which one must individually bow.” —A. W. Tozer
Remember, the home was created out of the Heart of God. His design for the home is just as structured as harmony. There are rules and roles to be filled as we have learned.

Think about our text of Colossians Chapter 3 and look with me at another area:
Ephesians 5:22-24 says:
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Ephesians 5:25-28 says:
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
Ephesians 6:1-4 says:
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
HARMONY HAS A
A simple and sad truth to close with is that too many of our families are singing without harmony and power. We are much like the family of Isaac. We love our desires and are not willing to change and sing by the rules.
We must be willing to adhere to the pattern that God has set for our homes. The roles that each of us fulfill must be recognized as God’s design and that it came from His heart.
We must be willing to be patient and allow the progression of harmony become routine in our homes.
