Journey Group Questions

Read and reflect upon Hebrews 11:1-6, and last Sunday’s sermon on this text.

Saving Faith is a lifestyle of living as a whole-hearted obedient follower of King Jesus. It begins when you repent of your sins and exercise faith alone in Christ alone for God’s glory alone. And, it involves a continuing process called sanctification that serves to close the gap between the way you are actually conducting your life today and the perfect righteousness that God already imputes to you. Those who exercise saving faith are commended by God for eternal life, and those who don’t are condemned by Him for eternal separation from Him.

  1. Are you a whole-hearted obedient follower of King Jesus? If you are not, you should be – and you can be. You can start by acknowledging your sin and desperate need for God, believing that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross to pay for your sins, and confessing that Jesus is the King of your heart. Do this now if you haven’t already done so.

  2. If you are already a follower of King Jesus, are any adjustments needed in the attitude of your heart that are compromising whole-hearted obedience to King Jesus? If so, are you willing to make those adjustments? What one or two specific things can you start doing, stop doing, or do better, or do differently, in the way you conduct your life right now to grow in your whole-hearted obedience to King Jesus? How could making these adjustments in your attitude and in the way you conduct your life impact your life, and the lives of others for God’s glory?

  3. With summertime and this seasonal flow of life approaching, what are one or two specific things you are going to incorporate into your lifestyle of exercising saving faith to ensure that you do not take a break from your whole-hearted obedience to King Jesus this summer?
