OPENING PRAYER
O gracious and holy Father,
Give us the wisdom to perceive you,
intelligence to understand you,
diligence to seek you,
patience to wait for you,
eyes to see you,
a heart to meditate on you,
and a life to proclaim you,
through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Attachment styles are patterns of behavior and emotional responses that individuals develop in their early relationships with caregivers, particularly during infancy and childhood.
Four main attachment styles:
1. Anxious-preoccupied attachment.
2. Dismissive-avoidant attachment.
3. Fearful-avoidant attachment.
4. Secure attachment.

Spiritual Attachment Styles (Krispin Mayfield)
1. The Distant Diety - the God who isn’t really interested in us
2. The Demanding Judge - The God who’s gonna get you for that
3. The Deterministic Micromanager - The God who’s in control and wants me to be in control, too.
POINT: So, what is God really like? God is just like
Hebrews 1:3a NRSV - He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being, and he sustains all things by his powerful word.
Colossians 2:9 NRSV- For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.
John 14:7-9 NRSV
If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
God is like Jesus.
God has always been like Jesus.
There has never been a time when God was not like Jesus.
We have not always known what God is like -
But now we do. —Brian Zahnd“Christ is not only God-like, but God is Christ-like.” —Martin Luther King Jr., Strength to Love
Notice the God in your imagination. Pay attention to what this God looks like. Does this God look like Jesus?
