No Excuses Just a Solution
1 John 2:1-2

1. The Goal is That We

Not ! (Vs. 1)
a. Sin is NOT the nor . (Matt 5:48; Gal 5:19-21, 24-25)
Matthew 5:48, “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
Galatians 5:19-21, 24-25, “Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, moral impurity, promiscuity, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and anything similar.…Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.”
b. Sin Should NOT Be About . (1 John 1:8-9)
1 John 1:8-9, “If we say, “We have no sin,” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
2. Fortunately, God has a Plan of ; Jesus is Our ! (Vs. 1b-2)
a. He is ! (Vs. 1c, 1 Pet 2:22, Heb 4:15)
1 Peter 2:22, “He did not commit sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”
Hebrews 4:15, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin.”
b. He is ! (Vs. 2a, 2 Cor 5:21, 1 John 3:5)
2 Corinthians 5:21, “He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
1 John 3:5,* “You know that he was revealed so that he might take away sins, and there is no sin in him.”*
c. He is ! (Vs. 2b, John 1:29, Rom 5:18-19)
John 1:29, “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
Romans 5:18-19, “So then, as through one trespass there is condemnation for everyone, so also through one righteous act there is justification leading to life for everyone. For just as through one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so also through the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.”
