Pulpit Curriculum

August 14th – Aug 20th, 2022

Verse of the Week

Acts 27:25 (ESV)
25 “So take heart, men, for I have faith in God that it will be exactly as I have been told.”

Going Deeper

Review Acts 27:1 - 28:10

1a) The Bible speaks of humility in various places and contexts; from the Christian perspective, explain what you understand humility to look like?

1b) Do you believe that humility and submission are intertwined? If so why? If not why?

2) Recount a time when there appeared to be no hope in a situation you were facing, but you called to mind a promise of God from His Word that took you through.

3) Using text such as 1 Peter 5:7 and Proverbs 3:5-6 explain how these verses fit the Preacher’s application to “Do What Is Best” when things go different to how we expect?

4) It is easy, almost natural for our first response to trouble to be fear; compose & commit to memory, a statement of faith, taken from the Word of God, that you will allow to be your guide in testing situations so that you do not respond in fear.

5) Grace is defined as “merciful behavior of a more powerful person toward another”, explain what God’s grace can look like even when it appears that we have lost everything.

Assess Your Life

1) What is your first response when life gets tough?

a) I have not yet developed a formula for a godly response when life gets tough

b) As a believer, I still struggle with my response being godly when life gets tough

c) I am learning to rely on the promises of God to guide my response when life gets tough

d) I am almost at the place where my first response is to recall the promises of God when life gets tough

e) I do not waver from the faith when life gets tough, I call on the promises of God & trust Him to respond

2) What factors may be hindering your ability to remain steadfast when your faith is under fire?

Application

1 List three promises from the Word of God that you can commit to memory to aid your first response to trouble…

I)

II)

III)

2 Of the list above, which one(s) will you be intentional about working on this week?

I will ask

to hold me accountable to this.
