Message Notes

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” —James 4:8

“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God…” —Hebrews 10:19-22

“Let us draw near” —Hebrews 10:22

“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith…” —Hebrews 10:22

What kind of attitudes should we have as we draw near?

  • A true heart

“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” —John 4:24

“The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit. God, You will not despise a broken and humbled heart.” —Psalm 51:17

“Behold, you desire truth in the innermost being.” —Psalm 51:6

  • In full assurance of faith

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” —Hebrews 11:6

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” —Hebrews 4:16

“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” —Hebrews 10:22

  • A clean conscience

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” —Romans 8:1

“He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.” —Psalm 103:10

  • A clean Heart

“So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.” —1 John 1:6-7
