Overturning Rage

Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against Yahweh and against his Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” —Psalm 2:1–3

God calls us to Humility

For Yahweh is our judge; Yahweh is our lawgiver. Yahweh is our king; he is the one who will save us. —Isaiah 33:22

There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor? —James 4:12

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” -Matthew 28:18

Humility before King Jesus is labeled as arrogance before His enemies

For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. 4 With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you; 5 but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. —1 Peter 4:3–5

God calls us to love all our neighbors, including our pre-born neighbors

For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. —Romans 13:9–10

The Bible gives the same protections, rights, and dignity to children inside the womb as people outside the womb

“When men strive together and hit a pregnant woman, so that her children [yeled] come out, but there is no harm, the one who hit her shall surely be fined, as the woman’s husband shall impose on him, and he shall pay as the judges determine. 23 But if there is harm, then you shall pay life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. —Exodus 21:22–25

The Old Testament equates what is outside the womb to what is inside the womb

When she opened it, she saw the child [yeled], and behold, the baby was crying. She took pity on him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.” —Exodus 2:6

Likewise, the New Testament equates what is outside the womb to what is inside the womb

In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, 40 and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. 41 And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby [brephos] leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, 42 and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby [brephos] in my womb leaped for joy.” —Luke 1:39–44

And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby [brephos] lying in a manger. —Luke 2:16

God calls us to freedom from sin and shame

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. —1 John 1:8–9

And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him. 15 And as he reclined at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. —Mark 2:14–15

And again, God calls us humility

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. —Romans 8:1

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. —Psalm 103:11–12
