Discussion Questions

In Joshua 5:13-15, Joshua encounters the “commander of the army of the Lord” who assures him that God is with them in their conquest of Canaan. How do you think this encounter might have impacted Joshua and his leadership? Can you recall a time in your life when you felt a strong sense of God’s presence during a challenging situation?

Exodus 3:11-12 records Moses expressing doubt about his ability to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, but God assures him, saying, “I will be with you.” Have you ever felt inadequate or ill-equipped for a task or responsibility? How can remembering God’s promise to be with us encourage and empower us in such moments?

In Judges 6, Gideon is called by God to lead Israel in a time of oppression. However, he initially questions God’s presence and guidance through multiple signs. How do you relate to Gideon’s hesitations? What experiences have helped you recognize God’s presence and guidance in your life?

Throughout these passages, we see a recurring theme of God’s assurance that He is with His chosen leaders. How does the concept of God’s presence influence our decision-making and actions in daily life?
