Scotty gave us three guidelines in dealing with toxic people:

  1. Set Boundaries

One of the ways to deal with toxic relationships is to set boundaries. What does it mean to set boundaries? What kinds of boundaries might we need to set with toxic people?
What are the challenges and rewards to setting boundaries?
Give an example of setting boundaries from your own life. What was the outcome?

  2. Find Safe People

Why is finding safe people so important when dealing with toxic people? How can healthy relationships help when dealing with a toxic relationship?
Where can we find safe people? Do you have safe people in your life right now?

  3. Give Back Grace

What does it mean to give grace to a toxic person? Why should we do that?
Does giving grace mean that we continue the relationship without any changes to it?
    Application
Ideally, your Life Group is a safe place for you. If you feel comfortable doing so, share with your group about a toxic relationship in your life. Ask them to support you in dealing with the situation. Commit to helping each other set boundaries and build safe relationships.

Pray
Pray for those that have shared their toxic relationships as well as other prayer requests shared with the group.
