You Asked For It! - “What are Practical Ways to Connect with God?

Step 1- STOP.

Luke 10:38-42
Jesus entered a village. A woman by the name of Martha welcomed him and made him feel quite at home. She had a sister, Mary, who sat before the Master, hanging on every word he said. But Martha was pulled away by all she had to do in the kitchen. Later, she stepped in, interrupting them. “Master, don’t you care that my sister has abandoned the kitchen to me? Tell her to lend me a hand.”

41-42 The Master said, “Martha, dear Martha, you’re fussing far too much and getting yourself worked up over nothing. One thing only is essential, and Mary has chosen it—it’s the main course, and won’t be taken from her.”

Step 2- Be Quiet.

1 Kings 19:11-13
“ Then he [Elijah] was told, “Go, stand on the mountain at attention before God. God will pass by. A hurricane wind ripped through the mountains and shattered the rocks before God, but God wasn’t to be found in the wind; after the wind an earthquake, but God wasn’t in the earthquake; and after the earthquake fire, but God wasn’t in the fire; and after the fire a gentle and quiet whisper.
When Elijah heard the quiet voice, he muffled his face with his great cloak, went to the mouth of the cave, and stood there. “

Step 3- Get Connected.

1- Through Prayer
Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:12-13

2- Through His Word:
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6

3- Through His People:
Acts 2:42-47

4- By Serving God:
“You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.”
Galatians 5:13

5- In Nature:
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Psalm 19:1

6- Through Worship:
“Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.”
Psalms 100:2
