INTRODUCTION
There are some big mouths in our culture today! The words we speak every day shape our life and our culture. Unmasking the nature of our words directly affects our quality of living − positively or negatively. Each of us must decide whether the words we speak will lead to life, success, and positive relationships or death, destruction, and painful memories. It is up to us and our big mouths!
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” —Proverbs 18:21
“My Big Mouth” will teach us how to choose our words wisely to create the life we want through unmasking the power of our words. During these collections of talks, we will learn how the words we speak transform the life we live.

TODAY’S TAKEAWAY:
The words we speak pave the path we live!
MY BIG MOUTH WEEK #1:
KICK OFF SUNDAY
I. UNDERSTAND THE
FOR “MY BIG MOUTH”
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity.” —2 Peter 3:18
It’s a spiritual
This campaign is for every person in our church and our online community. It uses the power of alignment on three levels to help us put the principles and actions we will be learning about in these collection of talks into practice.
A.
- Pray for God to speak to you about the power of your words.
- Examine your heart and the quality of your words.
- Apply the biblical principles on how to speak life with your words.
“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.” —Psalm 19:14
B.
- Commit to gathering online as we watch the messages together.
- Invest and invite others to join you online.
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” —1 Peter 2:9
C.
- Connect with a digital group to discuss each week’s topic and takeaway.
- Pray for one another and the impact of our words.
“I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to account for every careless word they speak. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” —Matthew 12:36-37

Imagine the impact in our lives if through this campaign we all learned how to control our Big Mouths.
II. APPLY THE BIBLICAL
FOR “MY BIG MOUTH”
“For the one who wants to love life and to see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit,” —1 Peter 3:10
“22But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his own face in a mirror. 24For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was. 25But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer who works — this person will be blessed in what he does.” —James 1:22-25
Tips for Success:
Take the 30 Day No BAD WORDS Challenge
• When a bad word is on the tip of your tongue, remain silent.
• Shift your focus to something positive you can say – and say that instead.
• If you aren’t sure whether something is a bad word or not, it probably is.
Bad Words and Cursing may be an art form to some, but a life spent speaking words of truth and life results in a much more beautiful outcome.
I’m committed to helping you succeed! When you take the challenge, I’ll email you tips and insights every day to encourage you each week.
III. LIVE OUT THE
OF “MY BIG MOUTH”
“Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your strength…” —Ecclesiastes 9:10a
A 2011 study involving 223 middle school students addressed the correlation between profanity in the media and aggression in kids. The study showed exposure to cursing had the same effect as exposure to violence on TV or in video games. “From using profanity to aggressive behavior, it was a pretty strong correlation,” according to study leader Sarah Coyne.
I am encouraging people to live a “Speak-life” lifestyle, one in which words “reflect a heart filled with love; words that will impact your reality in ways that will bring you the meaning, relationships and success you want,”. We must examine the power of our words, how they reflect on the speaker, and the impact on loved ones hearing, Also, our children in particular need to hear encouraging, empowering words from you.
Here are some steps to take today
• Commit to become a follower of Jesus Christ.
“If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” —Romans 10:9
• Continue watching this series online each week. If you miss an online gathering, you can watch past messages on our City United App.
“not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.” —Hebrews 10:25
• Complete the weekly Deep Dive questions and memorize the key verse.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” —Proverbs 18:21
• Connect in a digital group.
“Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up.” —Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
