Genesis 7:1-24

7:1 | The Hebrew word for “Go” used here is translated as “Come In” or “Enter In”. It is an invitation to Noah and His family into the ark. The word of the Gospel throughout the Bible is the word Come.

7:2 | Because the clean animals would be used for sacrifices after the Flood, Noah brought seven of each - both male and female - onto the ark.

7:7 | Noah’s entire family believed God - his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives. In fact, they were the only true believers in that violent and corrupt era (1 Pet. 2:5; 3:20). Faith is not transferable within a family, but it can be contagious.

7:11-12 | Water, now unrestrained by God, comes from everywhere - not just from below the ground (all the fountains of the great deep) but for the first time ever, raining from the windows of heaven.

7:16 | A big focus of this event is Noah himself. It wasn’t just about the flood or even God’s judgement. Noah was the kind of man who is saved out of a lost world.

7:19-23 | The use of emphatic words communicates how complete and catastrophic the Flood was: the waters prevailed exceedingly, covering everything under… heaven; all flesh died, including every human being and animal; all living things were destroyed from the earth. The biblical record makes it clear that every creature outside the ark perished, without exception.
