My Main Point

  • The power of Jesus is available to those who come to him in faith.

Mark 5:24-26 (ESV)
And a great crowd followed him and thronged about him. And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse.

Mark 5:27-28 (ESV)
She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.”

What Reports Had She Heard?

  • Jesus preaches in the synagogue and heals a man with an unclean spirit. (Mark 1:28)

  • Jesus heals Simon Peter’s mother-in-law. (Mark 1:29)

  • Jesus healed many, cast out many demons , and had the whole city sitting outside his door. (Mark 1:32)

  • Jesus went throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons. (Mark 1:39)

  • Jesus heals a man with leprosy and couldn’t walk freely in the towns because people wanted to be around him. (Mark 1:45)

  • Jesus heals a paralytic and forgives his sins in front of a huge crowd.(Mark 2:1-12)

Mark 5:29-34 (ESV)
And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, immediately turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my garments?”

And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’” And he looked around to see who had done it. But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”

A Misplace Hope - 2 Thessalonians

Types Of People Paul Warns …

  • Those given to lawlessness.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (NIV)
Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come (the day of Christ’s return) until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

  • Those given to idleness.

2 Thessalonians 3:10-13 (NIV)
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.” We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.

2 Thessalonians 2:13-17 (NIV)
But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

Three Truths From The Scripture

  • There is no hope in the way of this world.

  • God has not called us to idleness.

  • Stand firm and hold fast because God has a plan.
