Discussion Questions

  1. What is your favorite story? Could be from a book, film, TV series, play, etc. What is it about the hero(s) or main character(s) that draws you into the story?
  2. In Genesis 1, God is established as the main character and hero of the Bible’s story. But in Genesis 3, the serpent persuades Adam and Eve to doubt God’s goodness and write a new story where they are the stars. Why is it difficult to trust God (the root of sin) when we have doubts that he is good?
  3. In Romans 8:28, the Apostle Paul tells us: “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” What can we learn about the goodness and faithfulness of God from this promise?
  4. Jesus’ message while on earth was: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15). Pastor Mike mentioned that all brokenness and disorder flows from a crown on the wrong head. What do you think this means? Are there any “crowns” that you need to surrender to Jesus? Asked another way, are there any areas of your life where you need to trust Jesus to be a Good King?
