PRAYER: Begin the time by praying together

DISCUSS

  1. Share about a time when you did what you wanted to do, knowing that God wanted you to do something different. How did you know that it would have been better to follow God’s way?
  2. There are some of todays issues to which the Bible speaks directly. Scripture or Biblical principles can be applied to others which the Bible doesn’t specifically address. The Bible may seem to be silent about some issues we face today. Where do you seek counsel on topics that fall into the latter categories?
  3. How do you seek the Lord in making a decision? Who or what are “messengers” that God uses in your life as you face decisions? When or how are you assured that you know what He wants you to do?
  4. What are some of the ways that we go out of our way to NOT hear what God has to say?
  5. Pastor Robert talked about Confirmation Bias as surrounding one’s self with people who agree with them. II Timothy 4:3 addresses this. Share about a time when you have seen Confirmation Bias play out in your life.
  6. Why is surrender to God so difficult?

PRAY: Thank you, my Father, for the ways in which You help me know what You would want me to do. Please help me to never think that my ideas or desires are more precious than my relationship with You. I do not want to devalue You or anyone around me because of my lack of interest in what You or others think. Please give me an awareness to first and foremost seek Your counsel and follow Your ways. Amen.
