Financially Disciplined

We may look to money for:

• Satisfaction
• Security
• Significance

There are three things we can do with money: Give – Save – Spend

God on Giving

  1. Give generously. (Leviticus 27:30; Matthew 23:23)

    • 10% or more

  2. Give cheerfully. (2 Corinthians 9:7)
  3. Give sacrificially. (1 Chronicles 21:24)

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!” —Malachi 3:10 (NLT)

Save for unexpected and future expenses.

Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter. —Proverbs 6:6-8 (NLT)

Give (10%) – Save (10%) – Spend (80%)

The importance of a Spending Plan.

God’s word on money is easy to understand, but it requires us to be financially disciplined.

I have learned to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength…And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:11-13, 19 (NLT)
