Something to Live For - 2 Cor 3:6-8

December 5, 2021

Ou me’ - What does that mean?
Heb 8:12… “I will forgive their wickedness… never again remember their sins…”
Heb 10:15-17… “I will

remember their sins and lawless deeds…”
ou me’… no, never, cannot; God forbid never; absolute denial of the thing or the ….

Do you believe God? Why do we have such a problem with this? I’ll never again remember the thing you did or even think about that thing (Thayer). Yet, so often, we constantly think about our sins. What should we do when we do?
2Cor 10:3-5… “weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh… have divine power to break down strongholds (sin)… destroy arguments and every opinion raised against the knowledge of God… taking every thought captive to the

of Christ…”

NC is between God and Jesus, not God and us. Jesus is our union rep; we share in blessings when we are part of that union. It’s not about your obedience, but His.
Rom 5:1-9… “since we’re declared righteous… have peace with God thru Jesus…”
Rom 8:1-2… “law of the Spirit of life in Christ… set you free from law of sin and death…”
Heb 8:6-8… “Jesus has obtained a ministry more excellent than the old… He is the

of a better covenant which has been established on better promises…”
mesites… one who intervenes between two, either to make or restore peace and friendship, or form a compact, or for ratifying a covenant; person empowered to settle differences…

All of God’s blessings are found in Christ (hint: this is all about Jesus).
Rom 8:17-32… “heirs of God…

with Christ… freely given all things…”
1Cor 1:4… “grace of God given to you in Christ…”
1Cor 15:22… “just as in Adam, all die… so in Christ all will be made alive…”
2Cor 3:14… “veil is set aside only in Christ…”
2Cor 5:17… “if anyone is in Christ… he is a new creation… the old is gone…”
Gal 2:4… “ we have in Christ…”
Gal 3:26… “you are all sons of God in Christ…”
Eph 1:4-17… “in Him… we are holy, blameless, forgiven, saved…”
Eph 2:6-13… “immeasurable riches of His grace… in Christ…”
Eph 3:11… “God’s eternal purpose accomplished in Christ…”
Phil 4:4-9… “ of God… beyond all understanding… in Christ…”
Col 2:3… “in Him… all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are found…”
Col 3:11… “Christ is all… and is in all…”

Even Moses understood something better was coming… predicted failure under OC, but looked forward to a time when God would restore His people…
Deut 29-30… “to this day, the Lord has not given you a heart to understand… why has God done this, why was He so angry… it happened because people abandoned the covenant the Lord made with them… they turned to idols… in the

, the Lord will restore your fortunes… have mercy on you… bring you back to the land and make you prosperous… the Lord will change your so you may live…”

Dealing with sin is the most important part of NC (main clause)… that is primarily what makes it so different than OC. Blessings can’t come until sin is dealth with (OT animal).
Heb 9:11-28… “by His own blood… He obtained eternal redemption… cleanse your conscience from sin so you can serve… according to

(legally)… without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness… Christ has appeared one time for the removal of sin by the sacrifice of Himself… offered once to take away sins…”

Forgiveness is preschool of NC, yet so many people don’t know or don’t believe it. If sin is left unpaid, devil paralyzes us with gsc - convinces us we’re unworthy, unwelcome, unheard, unloved, unable… start to believe enemy and not God…
Heb 13:5 AMP… “I will

, under any circumstances, desert you… nor give you up, nor leave you without support… nor will I in any degree leave you helpless… nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you… assuredly not…”

It takes faith to believe and accept such unlimited and unconditional forgiveness. It’s impossible to understand with intellect - that’s why faith is such a fight (good).
1Cor 1:18-31… “God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom…”
1Tim 6:12… “fight the good fight of faith…”
Heb 10:32-39… “after you had been enlightened… endured hard struggle with suffering… righteous will live by

… we have faith, to the saving of our soul…”

What exactly are we talking about when we talk forgiveness? Root (aphemi) means to send away, banish, dismiss, leave, divorce… This is biblical forgiveness.
Matt 26:28… “this is My blood of NC… shed for the forgiveness of sins…”
Acts 10:43… “everyone who believes in Him will receive

of sins…”
Acts 13:38-39… “thru this Man… forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed…”
Eph 1:7… “redemption thru His blood… forgiveness of sins… according to grace…”
aphesis… release from bondage; pardon; let go as if they have never been committed…

It also helps to know exactly what we are talking about in relation to sin.
Rom 14:23… “everything that is not of

is sin (worry, fear, doubt)…”
Jam 4:17… “it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it…”

It goes even deeper than that. Sin can be a noun or verb… Sin is used 40 times in Romans (KJV)… 39 times as noun, once as a verb. Sin is a noun 80% in TN (174 to 43).
Romans (KJV)… 39 as noun, once as verb… sin is noun 80% in NT (174 to 43)…
Rom 6:11-14… “dead indeed to sin… do not let sin reign… sin will not rule over…””
hamartia (n)… imputation, penalty, condemnation of sin; principle and power of sin…
Rom 6:15… “should we sin because we are not under law, but under grace…”
hamartano (v)… sinful actions or behaviors…

We have been set free and have died to sin the noun (power, penalty, condemntation)… not necesarrily sin the verb (actions)… noun is governing force behind verb… like a dictator ruling…
Rom 6:18-22… “you are free from slavery to sin (n)… become slaves to righteousness… when you were slaves to sin (n), you were free from the obligation to do right… now you are set free from power of sin (n)… now you do those things that result in life…”

You can’t be set free from sinful actions (v) until you know you’re set free from power and penalty of sin (n)… and that forgiveness is something to live for.
2Cor 3:6-8… “HS gives

… expect greater goodness now the HS is giving life…”
2Cor 5:17-21… “God was in Christ… no longer counting people’s sins against them…”
