Praise for heaviness

Isa 61:3 To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory. —NLT

2Co 3:17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2Co 3:18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. —NLT

1. There is in the .

  • Freedom can come from the outside in.
When the thing that cursed or opposed you is removed or lifted off of you by the power of Jesus there is a space and increased capacity for the Holy Spirit to occupy.

  • Freedom also comes when someone is filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit.
The opposition in your life will always lose its foothold when every nook and ledge is possessed by the Spirit of God.

  • The Spirit of God transforms us so we look more and more like Jesus.

  • Whatever we are filled with has control.

2. There is in the .

Act 1:8 But you will receive

when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” —NLT

Mat 6:13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. —NKJV

Mar 5:28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
Mar 5:29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.
Mar 5:30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”
Mar 5:31 But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ” —NKJV

Act 6:8 Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed amazing miracles and signs among the people. —NLT

1Co 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. —NKJV

1Co 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power. —NKJV

3. There is in the .

Act 1:4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me;
Act 1:5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

• We wait when we believe that something is worth waiting for.
• We wait when we believe that what is promised will come.
• We wait because we can’t create what we are waiting for in our own strength.
• We wait because we need what is promised.
• To wait means that they would be tested by waiting, at least a little and when Jesus sees our heart He will start to baptize.

4. “Baptized in the Holy Spirit” is an and a .

Are you baptized (Immersed) rather than Have You been baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Each of these three baptisms serves a different purpose.

A. The Baptism of confirms that our sins are forgiven and we are on our way to heaven if we die. This provides the believer with an internal witness that we are saved.

B. Baptism is the public declaration of our identity in Jesus. We are saying to all who witness our baptism in water that we are ALL IN followers of Christ!

C. The Baptism in the empowers us to minister and serve others here on earth. The baptism in the Holy Spirit gives us power to witness and power to overcome!**

All three Baptisms in one place

Act 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
Act 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent,(FIRST BAPTISM) and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins (SECOND BAPTISM); and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (THIRD BAPTISM)
Act 2:39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
Act 2:40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”
Act 2:41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. —Acts 2:37-41 NKJV:
