Psalm 86:15

But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

Proverbs 14:29

Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.

Proverbs 15:18

A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.

Ephesians 4:26

In your anger do not sin; Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,

Read Psalm 86:15

  1. This verse presents 5 attributes of God. What are they? Take a moment to discuss or define each of them.
  2. “Slow to anger” is a wonderful trait. What helps you to be slow to anger with others. What can make you a little less slow to anger with others?

Read Proverbs 14:29

  1. Based on this verse, would those who know you best say you were more foolish or more understanding? Why?

Read Proverbs 15:18

  1. Can you think of a time when somebody’s patience calmed a quarrel and brought peace into a situation that was previously hostile?
  2. What does it feel like to you when others around you stir up a conflict? What happens in your own mind and heart?

Read Ephesians 4:26

  1. Where in scripture can we find examples of people who were angry without sinning?
  2. Why is it so difficult to be angry and yet not sin?
  3. How do you apply the second half of this verse in your own life?
