Teach Us To Pray - part 8 - Persistence

BIG IDEA: God wants us to

boldly and completely

John 14:13-14
3 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!

John 15:7
7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!

John 15:16b
so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.

John 16:23
23 At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name.

James 4:2-3
2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. 3 And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

God wants us to ask and completely.

Matthew 7:7-11
7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Our Responsibility -

God’s Responsibility -

Our prayers shouldn’t

reality but reality shouldn’t our prayers.

Matthew 7:9-11
9 “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.
