WARM UP QUESTION

Recall a time in your life when you were absolutely captured by a person, an idea, an activity or purpose. It was all you thought about. Describe that experience.

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
1. Read 2 Cor. 3:1-3 and especially notice the phrase “You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts” What do you believe Paul is communicating here?
2. Read 2 Cor. 3:4-6 Our culture points us strongly to self reliance. What is Paul’s view of this? What does he think about self reliance?
3. Read 2 Cor. 3:7-18 Paul is comparing Old testament glory to new testament glory. He points out that through Christ, the glory we have now never fades. He points us to gazing at that glory in verse 18. What do you see him communicating in verse 18?

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
4. Our heart longs to gaze on something. God designed us as passionate people. What does it look like for you to gaze upon the character of God?
5. What do you tend to gaze on, (the news, work, kids, sports, politics, regret, etc.) that wrecks you and take your gaze off Jesus?

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
6. Gazing and rest from God go hand in hand. What rhythms of true rest from God do you need?
7. As a group, read slowly through Psalm 63, sit a bit in silence and pray this Psalm back to God as you practice resting in Him.
