HOW GOD PROVIDES IN THE MIDST OF MY PROBLEMS

OVERWHELMED: Part 6
June 7, 2020 | Pastor Brian

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.”
(Psalm 23:5, NKJV)

THE BATTLES OF THE BELIEVER

  1. THE WAR.
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. (1 John 2:15–17, NIV)

  2. THE WAR.
“Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.” (Romans 8:5–8, NIV)

  3. THE WAR.
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12, NLT)

GOD’S PROVISIONS AGAINST LIFE’S AGGRESSIONS

1. GOD PROVIDES A

FROM MY FOES.
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies…”

“The LORD is a place of safety for those who have been beaten down. He keeps them safe in times of trouble.” (Psalm 9:9, NIrV)

2. GOD PROVIDES FOR MY HURTS AND FOR MY STRUGGLES
“You anoint my head with oil…”

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted…” (Luke 4:18, NKJV)

“Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of
his understanding. 29 He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. 30 Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. 31 But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:28–31, NLT)

3. GOD PROVIDES THAT NEVER LAPSES.
“…My cup runs over.”

God’s love is…

  • “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8, NIV84)

  • “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38–39, NIV)

  • …until it is!
  • “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV84)

    LAST THOUGHT
“There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not deeper still.”
