Be On Your Guard

12 But do people know where to find wisdom?
Where can they find understanding?
13 No one knows where to find it,
for it is not found among the living. —Job 28:12-13

23 God alone understands the way to wisdom;
he knows where it can be found, —Job 28:23

14 So the Israelites examined their food, but they did not consult the Lord. 15 Then Joshua made a peace treaty with them and guaranteed their safety, and the leaders of the community ratified their agreement with a binding oath. —Joshua 9:14-15

8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. —1 Peter 5:8

Finding wisdom…
1) Ask God for it.

5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. —James 1:5

2) Meditate and apply God’s Word.

18 The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. —1 Corinthians 1:18

3) Hang around wise people.

20 Walk with the wise and become wise;
associate with fools and get in trouble. —Proverbs 13:20

26 So Joshua did not allow the people of Israel to kill them. 27 But that day he made the Gibeonites the woodcutters and water carriers for the community of Israel and for the altar of the Lord—wherever the Lord would choose to build it. And that is what they do to this day. —Joshua 9:26-27
