Message Notes:

OUR GOAL:

These would no longer be compartments separated from Christ, but each one would be saturated by the influence of Christ.

John 12:23-25
23 Jesus replied, “Now the time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory. (Go to the cross) 24 I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives. 25 Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world (Fully surrender it to God) will keep it for eternity. NLT

1. How do we escape the bad things around us?

2. How do we become a good person? What does that even mean?

3. If there is something after this life, like heaven, how do we go there?

Statement of a Spiritual Compartment Without Christ:

I am generally a good person.

As long as I am not hurting anybody, I should be ok.

When we die…Either nothing happens or if heaven is real, I can’t imagine I wouldn’t be there.

How good is good enough to be accepted into whatever good there is in the afterlife?

Problems with the “Good” Argument:

1. How good is good enough?

2. If good people go to heaven, then we should have a clear and consistent definition of what is good.

Romans 3:23
All have sinned and fallen short, there is not one righteous not even one. NIV

Romans 3:20
For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. NLT

If it is not about being good or even religious … Who does get into heaven?

It is those who have been … FORGIVEN.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ESV

Romans 4:7-8
“What a blessing when God forgives our sins and our evil deeds. What a blessing when the Lord erases our sins from his book.” CEV

Statement of Spiritual Compartment Without Christ:

I am generally a good person.

As long as I am not hurting anybody, I should be ok.

When we die … Either nothing happens or if heaven is real, I can’t imagine I wouldn’t be there.

Allowing Christ to saturate your spiritual compartment is to stop playing the game of the cosmic scales.

Matthew 11:28-30
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” NIV

Statement of Christ’s Spiritual Saturation:

I have realized that even at my best effort, my good still falls short.

I recognize that I am a sinner and in need of Christ’s forgiveness and grace.

Through my confession of sin and repentance, he has forgiven me.

Now Christ wants me to die to my old self and (Matthew 22) follow him with all my heart, soul, mind and strength and love my neighbor as myself.

If you prayed the prayer to start fresh with God today text “startagain” (one word) to 97000 so we can connect with you and help you take the next steps in this amazing decision.
