SMALL GROUP GUIDE

  • Weekly Vision Casting  Last Sunday, we were invited to Attend One/Serve One. Ask someone to share briefly about an area where they are currently serving. Encourage your group to consider serving on Sunday morning or in other areas at Trinity during the week.
  • Opening Prayer
  • Small Group Guidelines (if necessary)
  • Warm Up Question
  • Head, Heart, and Hand Questions
  • Personal Prayer Requests
  • SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

WARM UP: What was your favorite cartoon growing up? [Today’s passage echoes the familes line from the 80s cartoon G.I. Joe – “Knowing is half the battle”]

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
    1. Read Colossians 1:9-14. What does it look like to be “filled with the knowledge of God’s will?”
    2. What is the significance of the phrase “so that” in verse 10?
    3. Based on this passage, what would you say that it takes for a Christian to bear fruit?
    4. Any other observations or questions?

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
    5. Does Paul’s hope and desire for believers in this prayer seem unattainable? Why or why not?
    6. Can you share about a time when growing in the knowledge of God’s will translated into a change in your actions?
    7. Each week in Small Group we try to ask Head, Heart, and Hand questions. How does this practice fit in with what we learn from this passage?

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
    8. Split up into pairs and pray for each other. Use this prayer as an outline to guide your prayer for the other person.
