Power

Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. 10 May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today the food we need, 12 and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. 13 And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one. (For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.) —Matthew 6:9-13

Big Idea: God’s power is available and accessible for those who believe.

I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. —Ephesians 1:19-20

Big Question: What is God’s power available for?
Main Scripture: Matthew 6:13

What is God’s power available for?
1. To overcome temptation

And don’t let us yield to temptation,…

When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right. 22 But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. —Romans 6:20, 22

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. —1 Corinthians 10:13

What is God’s power available for?
1. To overcome temptation
2. To overcome the tempter

…but rescue us from the evil one.

“Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! 19 Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. —Luke 10:18-19

But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven. —Luke 10:20

What is God’s power available for?
1. To overcome temptation
2. To overcome the tempter
3. To overcome the temporal

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O LORD, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. —1 Chronicles 29:11

That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, (temporary) but the things we cannot see will last forever. —2 Corinthians 4:16-18
