Food For Thought
Take a moment and consider all the ways you’ve heard the word grace used. How many point back to the work of salvation offered by Jesus Christ? Why do you think we have a hard time understanding grace as the gift of God and not as payment for our work?
Read Romans 3:21–31. How does this passage describe the work of being justified (saved)? Spend a few minutes with it. What does it say about our role? What about Jesus? How does it describe those who accept Jesus and their relation to other believers?
What makes this passage easy to embrace? Difficult? Why on both accounts?
Read Ephesians 2:4–9. How does this passage remind you that the grace given us through Jesus is enough? How could this help believers to accept themselves as Jesus accepts them?
