Deliverance Worth Celebrating

  1. What is the strangest Christmas celebration you have ever been part of?

  2. How does the knowledge that God was working to deliver HIs people–even though He is “in the background”–give us encouragement?

  3. What are some Scriptural examples of God delivering His people? Can you think of any that were not mentioned in the message?

  4. Why do you think many Christians and churches have–at least in years past–been more known for being “serious” than for being people who celebrate?

  5. Think about the analogy of a healthy river/lake ecosystem to describe the right balance between “intake” and “outflow” in a Christian’s life. Can you think of times when you’ve been overbalanced in your Christian life, either taking in with little giving out or the opposite? What did that feel like, and what negative effects did it produce? Are you in balance right now?
