Worship Week 1
John 4:23; Romans 12:1; Colossians 3:17
John 4:23
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship
the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father
seeks.

John Piper says - “True worship is a valuing or a treasuring of God above all things.”

Worship is an urging of the spirit, based in the truth of the Word, that grasps the
supreme value of God, and expresses itself in thought, word, and deed.

Romans 12:1 - Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to
offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and
proper worship.

Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of
your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good,
pleasing and perfect will.

Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord
Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

2. The Crucial Nature of Actions in Worshipping With Our Lives

Hebrews 13:15-16
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of
praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good
and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
