Ways God Communicates With Us …

• Through creation.

Romans 1:20 (NIV)
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

Psalm 19:1-4 (NIV)
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

• Through people.

Ephesians 4:11 (NIV)
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers … .

• Through circumstances/experiences.

Haggai 1:5-6, 9b (NIV)

“Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”

(vs. 9b) “What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house.”

Esther 4:14 (NIV)
“And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Mark 8:19-21 (NIV)
“When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”

“Twelve,” they replied.

“And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”

They answered, “Seven.”

He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”

• Through angels.

Hebrews 1:14 (NIV)
Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Hebrews 13:1-2 (NIV)
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

• If you don’t think you have ever experienced God communicating to you in any of these ways, ask the Lord to open your eyes.

• When it comes to discernment, keep Jesus at the center, along with the witness of Scripture, and allow other believers into the process.
