Key Verse - 2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT
“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars [earthen vessels] containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves”

Acts 18:1-3
“Then Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. 2 There he became acquainted with a Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, who had recently arrived from Italy with his wife, Priscilla. They had left Italy when Claudius Caesar deported all Jews from Rome. 3 Paul lived and worked with them, for they were tentmakers just as he was.”

Who are ?

  1. We see they were refugees
  2. We see their occupation
  3. We see Priscilla’s leadership
  4. We see them as co-laborers
  5. We see them as ordinary
  6. We see them willing to be disrupted for the Gospel’s sake
Acts 18:18b-19 “…Then he set sail for Syria, taking Priscilla and Aquila with him. 19 They stopped first at the port of Ephesus, where Paul left the others behind.
I Corinthians 16:19 “The churches here in the province of Asia send greetings in the Lord, as do Aquila and Priscilla and all the others who gather in their home for church meetings.”

  7. We see them willing to instruct and confront
Acts 18:24-26 “Meanwhile, a Jew named Apollos, an eloquent speaker who knew the Scriptures well, had arrived in Ephesus from Alexandria in Egypt. 25 He had been taught the way of the Lord, and he taught others about Jesus with an enthusiastic spirit and with accuracy. However, he knew only about John’s baptism. 26 When Priscilla and Aquila heard him preaching boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and explained the way of God even more accurately.”

  8. We see their hospitality

We are not called to do great things for God
We are called to be

to God

It’s not “what” we do that makes our common life uncommon, but rather for “whom” we do it for.

What do you think a person looks like who is really being used of God?

… over time

9.We see their courage
Romans 16:3-4
“Give my greetings to Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in the ministry of Christ Jesus. 4 In fact, they once risked their lives for me. I am thankful to them, and so are all the Gentile churches.”
Romans 16:5 “Also give my greetings to the church that meets in their home.”

10.We see their true citizenship

11.We see the hand of God on their lives

2 Corinthians 5:3-4 “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life”
