Think About What You’re Thinking

Proverbs 23:7 - …your life is shaped by your thoughts. TEV
Two important truths:
• Life is determined by what you think.
• You have a choice of what you think.
*So ask yourself: Do I really want to think about this right now?
2. Any change I want in my life must
Romans 12:2 - Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Romans 12:2 - Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. TEV
Matthew 5:8 - “You’re blessed when you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right. THEN you can see God in the outside world.” (MSG)
3. I can change how I
Psalm 42:6 - David: “My heart is breaking, so I TURN my thoughts to God.” (TEV)
Jonah 2:7 - When my soul fainted upon me [crushing me], I earnestly and seriously remembered the Lord; and my prayer came to You, into Your holy temple. AMP
THINK > FEEL > ACT
4. An unseen
Romans 7:21-23 - So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.
5. To
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 - While we live in the world, we don’t fight the same way the world does. We fight with God’s weapons, not worldly ones. 4 Our weapons have God’s power to demolish the enemy’s strong places. 5 We can knock down all the worldly arguments and prideful defenses that set themselves up (in our minds) against the knowledge of God. In this war, we capture every rebel thought and we make it give up, and obey Christ!
Two Weapons:
• You need God’s spirit
Romans 8:6-7 - The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7 the sinful mind is hostile to God.
• You need the
John 8:31-32 - To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
6. My goal is to learn to think like
• We WILL look at that next week.
Philippians 2:5 - Your thoughts and attitudes must be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
1 Corinthians 2:16 - We have the mind of Christ!
