Born is the King Part 1

• Jesus didn’t become king; He was

king.
• He was only born , so we could be born .

Prophecies of the King

And God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed. —Numbers 22:12

Behold, I have received a command to bless;
He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.
“He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The Lord his God is with him, And the shout of a King is among them. —Numbers 23:20-21

• Among them there is the shout of the freedom-bringing, life-giving, inheritance-restoring

.

“I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near;
A

shall come out of Jacob; a shall rise out of Israel. —Numbers 24:17

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”

And He shall stand and feed His flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD His God; And they shall abide, for now He shall be great o the ends of the earth. —Micah 5:2, 4

But you, Bethlehem, David’s country, the

of the litter— From you will come the leader who will shepherd-rule Israel. —Micah 4:2 (The Message)

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. —Isaiah 9:6-7

4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. —Galatians 4:4-5

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to

Him.” —Matthew 2:1-2

• You

a king. You God. Jesus was both. Jesus IS both.

• Matthew 2 is the first mention of the word

in the New Testament, and it was modeled by these magi that left everything behind in their diligent, probable two-year search for the Messiah-King.

Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “It is as you say.”

When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

And they put up over His head the accusation written against Him: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. —Matthew 27:11, 29, 37

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have

life. —John 3:16

• Jesus was both

a king, before He was born.

Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.
7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges[b];
he took the humble position of a slave[c]
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,[d]
8 he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. —Philippians 2:6-11

• Never has a

stooped so low. Never has a been exalted so high.

• God is not afraid of our

.

• What Pilate couldn’t see is was how supernaturally,

accusation written against me and against you was also to that cross.

• Wise men still

Him.

• Jesus was born

so you could be born – your natural birth and your spiritual birth.

Born of God

  1. Becoming Power. The grace to be .

John 1:12 - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.

  1. Overcoming Power. The to overcome.

I John 5:4
for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

  1. A New Identity. The grace to step into the new.

2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Now why do you cry aloud? Is there no king in your midst? NKJV
So why the doomsday hysterics? You still have a king, don’t you? MSG —Micah 4:9

• The

of our panic is correlated to our forgetfulness of the King.
