Where the Spirit of the Lord Is

• 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV) … where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.
• If we want to be a people of love, acceptance, and forgiveness, we need to be a

where the Spirit of the Lord is.
• Love, acceptance, and forgiveness is something God works into our lives as we welcome the and the of His Spirit in our midst.

No matter how big the church on Sunday becomes, it will never penetrate the culture with Jesus. The reason is clear. The church on Sunday is experienced by the church community: it is only observed (if noticed at all) by the unbelieving community.

The church on Monday is an entirely different matter. It operates in the experience of nonbelievers. It lives on their turf, moves in their society, and operates in their culture. On Monday Jesus is “on the road.” He ceases to be one of the characters in the program of the institution called the church.

Rather, he works beside people. He eats in their restaurants and banks at their branches. He has coffee in their front rooms and hangs out by their water coolers. He is in their lives. He is incarnate. And because he can be seen and touched, he can be received or rejected. True evangelism is possible. —– Jerry Cook, The Monday Morning Church, pp. 5-6

• A danger for the church in the western world is that, by and large, we have learned how to “do church” and “do ministry” apart from the

of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 4:20).
