The Promise Received…
“Go… to the land that I will show you.
And I will make of you a great nation,
And I will bless you,
And make your name great,
And you will be a blessing.
And I will bless those who bless you,
And him who dishonors you I will curse,
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Genesis 12:1-3

Was a Threefold Promise…

1 . A

“Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.” Genesis 12:1

2 . A

“And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you…” Genesis 12:2a

“I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies,”
Genesis 22:17

3 . A

“And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Genesis 12:3b

6 Just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”? 7 Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” Galatians 3:6-8

It was a Sure and Certain Promise…

• The Promise was

4 So Abram went, as the LORD had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. 5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people that they had acquired in Haran, and they set out to go to the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan, Genesis 12:4-5

• The Promise is

14 The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, 15 for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever.” Genesis 13:14-15

• The Promise Remains

17 This is what I mean: the law, which came 430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to make the promise void. 18 For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise. Galatians 3:17-18

It is Our Promise.

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10:28

Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25

“…for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’” Hebrews 13:5b

For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Romans 11:29
