Define God’s Sovereignty in your own words (Psalm 115:3 & 16):

List some of the ways that we see God’s Sovereignty play out in the lineage of Jesus (Matthew 1:2-16)

Since God’s character never changes:

  1. Pay attention! God never stops and today to bring about His purposes.
  2. Don’t give up! God has an for the world.

We have 2 choices: Despair or believe.

Small Group Questions

WARM UP: What is the first thing you think of when you think of Christmas? [Most people don’t automatically think of God’s Sovereignty when they think of Christmas, but it is everywhere in the Christmas story.]

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.

  1. Read Psalm 115:3 & 16. From these verses, how would you biblically define God’s sovereignty?
  2. Look together at Matthew 1:2-16. How is God’s Sovereignty demonstrated throughout the lineage of Jesus?

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.

  1. What are some of most significant emotions that you have wrestled with this year?
  2. How convinced are you that the God we see revealed in the pages of Scripture is the same God that is working in our world today?

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.

  1. How could the truth of God’s Sovereignty bring comfort, hope, and purpose to you in the midst of this season?
  2. Is there anyone you know that needs comfort and encouragement right now? How could you do that this week?
