John 16:5-33
A. Encouragement: The Spirit who comes at Pentecost ministers to and through us. (v.5-16)
3 ministries of the Holy Spirit:
1. The Spirit convicts the world of guilt…
a. “in regards to sin”
b. “in regards to righteousness”
c. “in regards to judgment”
2. The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth and shows us things to come. (v.13)
3. The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus by sharing with us what belongs to Christ. (v.14-15)
B. The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus by sharing with us what belongs to Christ. (v.14-15)
1. “In a little while”- What does He mean???
2. On this earth, we all will face trials like sickness, persecution, grief, and death.
3. On this earth, we all will face trials like sickness, persecution, grief, and death.
Application: We may not see Jesus right now, but be assured of one thing- in a little while He is going to return for His own.
C. Encouragement: The promise that God will answer our prayers reassures us to ask and believe. (v. 23-28)
1. We receive joy when the Father answers our prayers.
2. The Father will answer our prayers directly.
3. Ask and you will receive!
Conclusion: Christ’s victory over the world encourages us to have peace. Keep looking up! We are on the winning team! Allow the Spirit of God to lift your head.
