Faithfulness

I think the body of Christ needs to remember the significance of faithfulness in our walk with Jesus.

Psalm 37.28
28 For the Lord loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.
Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed ;
the offspring of the wicked will perish.

John 13.34-35
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Faithfulness requires us to submit our ways to God. It comes from a place of realizing that we are in need of a Savior and that He is in control of our lives.

Proverbs 19.21
21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

1 Cor 1.8-9
8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

In the Old Testament the word faithful is truly interesting. The Hebrew verb (aman) translated for faithful means true, truth, real. It takes on the application of being faithful, reliable and steady.

There are things all believers have been entrusted with.

Matthew 28.16-20
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

As believers we represent Jesus on the earth.

We live out a life of faithfulness by the way we live out the gospel.

How do we do this?

We can build relationships and share hope in our sphere of influence.

I am not responsible for the whole world, but I am responsible for the small part of the world God has entrusted me with.

Matthew 5.13-16
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

We must be responsible for God’s calling in our lives.

We are all different with many giftings and talents, but we are all part of the same family.

1 Cor 12.12-20
12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.  13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.
16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

This world needs us to be fully alive and faithful in our giftings.

In the end God is responsible for the outcome, our job to faithfully carry out his plan.

Input not output is the way to live a life of fulfillment.

Rev 20 teaches that The Great White Throne Judgment, That is the final judgment, and it takes place to show the nonbeliever why they are rejected from God’s presence in Heaven. (They rejected God’s offer of forgiveness).

The Bible teaches there is a judgment for Christians as well, also referred to as the bema in three places, Romans 14:10-121 Corinthians 3:10 4:5,and 2 Corinthians 5:1-10
The Judgment Seat of Christ is different. It is not about whether or not you get to Heaven. (You are already in Heaven when it happens.) It is about the rewards you will receive.

2 Cor 5.6-10
6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

At the Judgment Seat of Christ, each of us will have to give an account of what we did with the life, gifts and calling that God gave to us.

This does not need to scare us, but motivate us and show us that our faithfulness matters!

I know many are in a season of trying to hold on, in our families, our health, our community, and the world. But the beauty is perfection does not equal faithfulness, but a heart to please God is what he seeks.

God loves you and he wants the best for you!

Let’s live life on purpose, His purpose.
