
Big Idea: Jesus Became Human to Save Us!
Scene 1. A Holy God Cannot Overlook His Creation’s Sinfulness.
The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” —Genesis 2:15
Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, and You cannot look on wickedness with favor. (NASB) —Habakkuk 1:13
Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die. —Ezekiel 18:4
Scene 2. Every Person has Sinned and is Under God’s Judgement.
The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. 3 They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one. —Psalm 14:2
…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…. —Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death…. —Romans 6:23
Scene 3. But God So Loved…
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. —2 Peter 3:9
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” —John 3:16
…without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. —Hebrews 9:22
Scene 4. Jesus’ Human Death Atoned for Humanity’s Sin.
The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! —John 1:29
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. —1 Peter 2:24
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit… —1 Peter 3:18
Conclusion: God’s Christmas Present to YOU is Christ’s Righteousness.
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. —2 Corinthians 5:21
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. —Romans 8:1
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God… —John 1:12
