Week 3 - Mentally

- God wants to make you new by changing your
““My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” Isaiah 55:8 NLT
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 NIV
“I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.” Romans 7:22-23 NLT
Four steps to a made new mind:
1.Partner with God to free my mind from
“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 ESV
“Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’””Matthew 4:10 ESV
2.Let God focus your mind on the
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8 NLT
- Think with
“giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Ephesians 5:20 ESV
- Think about
“And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and are partners with those called to heaven, think carefully about this Jesus whom we declare to be God’s messenger and High Priest.” Hebrews 3:1 NLT
- Think about
“do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 2:4-5 NASB2020
3.Flood my mind with God’s
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”Psalm 119:105 ESV
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 ESV
4.Look towards God’s
“…I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians 3:13b-14 NLT
God wants to make your thoughts new because his new thoughts are better than your old ones.
Made New Prayer: God, I know you have plans for my life that are greater than my own. Will you remove lies that I think and replace them with your truth. Would you focus my thoughts on you, what you are doing, and on others so I can be filled with the peace the comes from my mind being guarded by you. Thank you for making my thoughts new. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
