Jude 11
Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

Revelation 2:14
But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.

The way of Cain sinned against one man. The way of Balaam caused many men to sin.

The doctrine of Balaam appeals to the flesh: what we want to hear and what we want to have.

Joshua 13:22
The children of Israel also killed with the sword Balaam the son of Beor, the soothsayer, among those who were killed by them.

Jude 11
Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

Apostates exchange the way of Christ for the way of Cain; the truth of Christ for the error of Balaam; and the life of Christ for the death of Korah.

Numbers 16:3
They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “You take too much upon yourselves, for all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”

Selfish ambition in the Body sows contention to the Body.

Rebellion against God’s order brings God’s anger.

Jude 11
Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

The true believer sits in the way of Christ, stands on the truth of Christ, and walks according to the life of Christ.
