He Shall Be Called - Day 15
Life and Death Prophecy: The Messiah would be sold into captivity for 30 pieces of silver
Scripture: Read the prophecy – Zechariah 11:12
Read the fulfillment – Matthew 26:15
Thirty pieces of silver. That’s a very specific prophecy. It was the price of a slave in ancient Israel at the time the prophecy was recorded. Hundreds of years later it would be proven true when our blessed Lord was betrayed and sold for 30 pieces of silver – the price of a slave. Surely the Creator of the universe, the one who spoke the stars and the seas into existence was worth more than the price of a slave.
How could something so priceless be sold for such a small amount? Our relationship with Jesus should be the most important thing in our lives. More important than possessions, more important than health or comfort, more important than country, even more important than family. If we get our relationship with the Lord right, everything else will fall into place. If our relationship with the Lord is not right, not firm and solid, then all our other relationships will not be on a good foundation.
Q1. Judas had the opportunity to live close with Jesus. Why didn’t he get it? What could drive so much hatred that he would take the steps to betray the Son of God?
Q2. Most of us know that we must treat valuable things with care. What specific steps do you take to insure your relationship with the Lord is healthy?
Q3. If you feel distant from the Lord, is it more likely that He moved or that you moved? What specific steps do you need to take to restore that healthy, vibrant, committed relationship with the Lord?
Tis a sad but true story, from the Bible it came and it tells us how Judas sold the Savior in shame. He planned with the Council of high priests that day. Thirty pieces of silver was the price they would pay. Far off in the mountains with his face toward the sun, Judas begged Mercy for what he had done. 30 pieces of silver, 30 sheckles of shame, was the price paid for Jesus, on the cross He was slain.
PRAYER FOCUS: Lord, I know that my relationship with You should be the most important thing in my life. I want every bit of the joy and peace and power that comes from walking close and in fellowship with You. Search my heart and help me eliminate everything that detracts from that close relationship that I want. Help me to love You with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind and all my strength.
