DISCUSS
1. Clara Brown led and exemplary life. Her motto of “I always go where Jesus calls me.” is very bold. What does her motto imply and reveal about her relationship with Christ? Discuss the words in her motto that really stand out to you.
2. In John 10:3-4 and Psalm 23:1-3 the relationship Christ wants with Christians is laid out. What kind of relationship do you want to have with Him? How does the one want compare with the relationship you currently have with Christ?
3. In the relationship Christ desires to have with us, who does the leading and who does the following? How do the followers know where to go? What steps can you take to have a better “Call & Response” relationship with Christ?
4. Not everyone has a “Call & Response” relationship with Christ. By looking at John 10:6, why do you think the Pharisees did not have that kind of relationship?
5. What can keep us from having that kind of relationship?
6. What kind of thoughts did you have or actions did you take this past week in response to Pastor Robert’s challenge to “go to a cave” in order to hear God?
7. Pastor Robert talked about the need for resting, surrendering and waiting in order to hear God. Each requires intentionality, commitment and a willingness to go where we need to go in order to hear Him. What hinders us from resting and waiting?
8. What does surrender to the Holy Spirit look like and why might we resist doing it?

PUTTING IT INTO PRACTICE:

As in the service, get into a comfortable position with a piece of paper and a pen.

Rest…being still and knowing that He is God and taking every thought captive. (Psalm 46:10, II Corinthians 10:5b)

Surrender to the Holy Spirit by being willing to confess sin and respond to His leading.

Wait for God to speak and write down who He brings to mind and where He is leading you. (27:36-28:14)
