Everyday Jesus Notes 2.19.23
February 18, 2023

Everyday Jesus: Everyday Jesus is a great way to deepen your Bible reading, prayer life & personal time with Christ.

• Monday: Read 1 Corinthians 1 and Acts 18:1-17. In Acts 18 we get a clear picture of what Corinth was like, which helps understand the purpose and need for the letter of 1 Corinthians. In Acts 18, Paul sought common ground from which to share the gospel from. In case Paul found a Jewish husband and wife from the same background and then went to a Jewish synagogue. Today, look at your life and ask God how you can reach others with the gospel from your current interests and life activities and background. Do you like: knitting, golf, travel…
• Tuesday: Read Acts 18:1-17, in vv5-8 Paul is under pressure for sharing the gospel. It is a feeling many Christians experience. We are often opposed and more and more under attack for our faith. Rather than give up on the gospel, pressure moved Paul to where he could be most effective for Christ. Today, ask the Lord to both show you and use you in the areas of your life that are under pressure [marriage, work, parenting, money - all that - LOL].
• Wednesday: [Day of Fasting] Read Acts 18:1-17. God’s vision for Paul was for him to continue sharing the gospel in the face of the pressure. God spoke: Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent. God often gives us clear messages of what we are to do. Today take these words into your own prayer; fear, hesitancy and stopping are real feelings. Express your desire to be used by God in powerful ways - beyond your own capacity. Then, confess your real feelings and fears to the Lord! Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent.
• Thursday: Read Acts 18:1-17 while fear in the face of pressure is real, our reason to not be afraid, go on and not be silent is that God is with us! God has people and resources in places we don’t know anything about (v9b-10). In the face of fear and pressure, thank God today that He is with you and providing for His work that He will do in and through your life.
• Friday: Read Acts 18:1-17 We know of people who talk talk but don’t always do what they talk. The Lord promised to be with Paul as he pursued the Cross and work of Christ. Then, He did exactly that! Today in vv12-17, when an attack arose against Paul, God stepped in and in this case, Paul didn’t even have to say a word, then turned the attack on the attackers. Corinth was a city of corruption and immorality, yet God had one person that He could use to make a difference in the name of Christ. Today, ask the Lord to use you to make a difference in the places He sends you, with the resources he has and will provide for you!
