TO ALL THE NATIONS

1. BIBLICAL MODEL: GOD’S PLAN FOR THE WORLD

Matthew 28:18-20 (NASB) 18And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Acts 19:1-5 (NIV) 1While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when[a] you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” 3So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?” “John’s baptism,” they replied. 4Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

2. HOW DOES THIS PLAY OUT AT REAL LIFE MINISTRIES?

3. WHO RECEIVES?

Acts 18:24-26 (NASB) 24Now a Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures. 25This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John; 26and he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

4. A GOD OF MULTIPLICATION:

2 Timothy 2:2 (NASB) The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

QUESTIONS TO REFLECT AND DISCUSS:
Passages to consider: Matthew 28:18-20; Matthew 4:19; Act 19:1-5; 2 Timothy 2:2; Acts 18:24 -26

Icebreaker: Where would you like to travel and visit?

  1. What interested you or inspired you from the sermon?
  2. Look at Matthew 28:18-20. Read it twice. Rebuild and retell the passage as best you can without looking at it. What do you discover about God as you focus on the passage?
  3. Who has displayed Jesus’ love and way of life to you? A) What has receiving the gift and truth of Jesus and following Him meant to you?
  4. Who are people you are concerned about knowing Jesus? Who do you want to have the opportunity to meet Jesus, to follow Him, to be changed by Him, and to join Him in what He is doing?
  5. How is that concern motivating you to be a part? A) What would it take for you to make another step in being a “goer”?
  6. As you continue to cultivate walking with the Spirit and having Him produce fruit in your life, what is God showing you about joining Him in reaching the world for Jesus, or in reaching your world?

Try it! As you are going through out your week, pay attention to with whom you spend your time, where you go in your daily path, and who comes across your path. Ask God to give you eyes to see people and a heart and hands to be available to be His ambassador to your part of the world.

Passages to prepare for next week’s new sermon series, Offended:
