Part of Frisbie Farewell—Final Thoughts
March 24, 2023
Title: How to Finish Strong
Passage: Numbers 13-14; Joshua 14
Speaker: Ross Frisbie (Senior Minister)
Use the following questions based on today’s sermon as a starting point for spiritual discussions with your family or a small group of Christian friends this week.
Fellowship—Relationship with a Purpose
- Share a time when you completed a role (ex: moving somewhere new, taking a new job). Were you satisfied with the way you finished? What did you do right? What could you have improved?
Growth—Thinking About Spiritual Matters
- When we first meet Caleb, he is one of the twelve spies exploring the Promised Land in advance of Israel’s entrance. Despite the strong inhabitants of the land, what was Caleb’s attitude about conquering it? Read Numbers 13:30. Why did he have confidence?
- What is your vision for your life in the next few years? Where did you get that vision? Is it rooted in God’s promises or something else? Discuss your answer.
- What obstacles cloud your pursuit of God’s promises?
- Does spiritual “loyalty” depend on your own strength? Why or why not? Who is an example of a loyal follower of God you want to imitate?
- Read Psalm 130:5-6. On a scale of 1 to 10, rate your willingness to wait for God. What happens when you don’t wait, when you outpace God’s plans?
- In Joshua 14:10-12, who did Caleb want to drive out? What was special about them? (See Numbers 13:33) Are there “giants” of your own you need to face in your spiritual life? What will it take to defeat them?
- After considering Caleb’s life, what is one word that you would use to describe him? Would anyone currently use that word to describe you?
Prayer – Taking Your Thoughts to God
- Pray for God to equip you to finish strong in your spiritual journey…no matter how long it takes.
