Week 1: “Making Room-HOPE” HPC @ Home Guide
PRINT GUIDE HERE
Scripture: Jeremiah 33:14-16
Takeaway: As we study the biblical prophets that call us to care for our neighbors and “make room in the inn,” the lonely and frightened spaces within us are filled with the light of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love.
Take some time to share:
• One thing that you are thankful for this week.
• One thing you need.
• How can the group help?
Read this out loud, and together if you are with others…
Hope waits for us at Advent
Hope waits for us to trust.
Hope waits for our commitment
to a land that’s kind and just.
In this time of preparation
for the work of co-creation,
for the birthing of a world
that heals the ones in pain.
Hope is born in us again!
Answer these questions together or on your own:
• Advent is a season of waiting & preparation, what will you do this year to prepare yourself for what Christmas holds?
• Thinking beyond Christmas, what can we do to continue to prepare the way for God’s kingdom
• Throughout the book of Jeremiah, we find prophecies of a future hope that many of the original hearers of the word would not experience themselves. Rather, they were called to prepare the way for future generations. How can we also be working to prepare a better future for those who will come after us?
• How can we find joy in working toward a future hope that we may not get to experience ourselves
Close with this blessing: May God’s Door of Welcome swing open just a little bit more. May Jesus’ humble first dwelling remind you of the plenty you already know. And may the Spirit lead you into more possibility and hospitality that you can imagine, making room in The Inn for all. May it be so.
