Respect

Ephesians 5:33
However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Respect has the ability to

hearts.

1 Peter 3:1-2
1Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

Respect is a matter of inner

.

1 Peter 3:3-4
3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

Respect in a marriage is not a

idea.

1 Peter 3:5-6
5For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, 6like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.

It is often times a matter of

respect rather than the lack of respect that gets marriages off track.

3 Ways we can communicate better:

1.Respect puts the other person

.

Philippians 2:3-4
3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

2.Respect is a

thing.

Romans 12:10-11
10Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

3.Respecting others is

yourself.

Matthew 7:12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
